I’ve put a lot of thought into this over the past two weeks, and I’ve decided that I’m going to look for a new home.
When looking for a server, I hunted for a vanilla PVP white-list server, which is what was advertised for this site, and frankly it’s not. I can’t stand the plug-ins. At all. AT ALL! I hate them. They only make my gaming on the server more difficult. I can’t even transport villagers with a minecart without them getting killed by it. Creepers don’t even cause damage anymore. WTF???? The 28 pages of plug-in commands are ridiculous. That’s not vanilla. 28 pages of commands is nowhere close to vanilla.
The PvP is silly because it’s only affected by one area, which no one wants to go to. I built an arena, and no one even uses it.
There’s no use being on a hard difficulty if you can simply type /vote day. Grow a pair. Learn to play the game.
There’s no use for horses if you can teleport everywhere. Teleporting ruins any danger in having to go from point A to point B as well as ruining the opportunity to depend on your neighbors. People live 50 blocks from each other and never even interact.
There’s no use to have a whitelist if EVERYONE applying gets to join. Including children, racists, bigots, griefers, raiders and hackers. It’s a security threat and opens the door to anyone and everyone. That’s not whitelist at all. It’s practically a public server as long as you spend 2 minutes filling out an application.
People won’t follow the rules posted in spawn, even though there are only like 4 of them. I’ve been griefed twice in one week. My daughter’s memorial has been griefed more times than I care to mention and every time it makes me even more mad. People build right on top of my own builds and others as well. I see people on chat talking about poop, “faggots”, rambling on an on about nothing pertaining to the game like 13 year olds. Act Mature. It’s a rule. I’ve had people actually teleport to my residence, which I purposefully chose to be so far away to get space from everyone, and then they mine MY caves. That’s just fucking rude! Mine your caves, not mine. I spend hours selflessly building things for this server and I typically don’t have time to go do anything for my own base. The last thing I need is for the tunnels I use for my own resources to be stripped clean.
No matter how hard I work I can’t get the community to interact, let alone keep up with the forums. Everyone wants a server like MindCrack. I try to create it for you. You don’t even walk around spawn long enough to look at it. “Where’s TheChickenShack?” It’s the building with the giant fucking chicken out front!!!! Fucking hell man!
If I build something, someone immediately says, “I would have done that differently.” No, you wouldn’t have. You wouldn’t have even built it at all. I, on the other hand, did. I put in the work, not you. Don’t criticize what I do when you’re too damn lazy to do anything. I’m also tired of building something and someone going behind me and redoing it. If that’s how I wanted it, that’s how I would have built it. People were trapped in Nether Portals. We build a Nether Hub to remedy it. YOU DON’T USE IT!!! Additionally, you build more portals when the hub is in EYESIGHT of you. Just walk, you lazy shit. Or at least /spawn and then walk the 20 meters there. That build was a complete waste of time now it seems. I make a post office and all you people do is use it to troll each other. Filling my mailbox with dirt.
Although less than 40 people play on a regular basis, we have a gigantic map unlocked that no one’s living on. Cynix doesn’t want to expand the world border, so 1.7 update will be fucked. Even if he unloads the chunks where no one is, the biomes will be screwed. Spawn is a jungle, beside a snow, beside a desert… It won’t work. So, there goes discovering new lands.
I guess, bottom line, I’m not happy anymore. This isn’t the type of server I was looking for. Without bragging, I’m probably one of the fastest builders on the server, one of the best, and have put in some of the most labor. The place would look pretty fucking bland if you took away everything I’ve done for you. For that, you kill my passive bat Dracula, making me waste a nametag even though I made a forum post saying PLEASE don’t kill my Bat and put a sign at spawn. Like, WHY? WHY! It’s a bat, it can’t even hurt you. The countless hours I’ve invested into creating something beautiful and fun for you are pointless it seems. No more. That last grief on my daughter’s memorial was the last straw.
I’ll be looking for a new true white listed vanilla server. With 1.7 coming soon, I’m sure new servers will pop up soon and I’ll be able to get in on the ground floor with a tighter knit crew. Don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine.
To the friends I’ve made, thank you. YOU are what has kept me here this long. I value our friendships and I’ll most assuredly keep in touch. I may even poke my head back in on occasion to catch up. To the rest of you… well, never met ya.
Until I officially leave and find another server, I will no longer aid you in votes for weather changes. Learn to play. If you’re anywhere I can kill you, I will. Learn to play. I’ll no longer accept teleports and insist you run instead. Learn to play. You won’t get anymore assistance out of me. I’m done with it

Even though I’m new on the server and we’ve never really met, i’m sorry to hear you feel this way and of the stuff that happened to you. That shouldn’t happen. The whitelist and the mature label should be enforced to prevent stuff like that from happening.
One of the first things i noticed when joining the server was the memorial garden and i’ve always wanted the know the story behind that. Even the NOTION of grieving a place like that, even when i don’t know the story, is sickening to me.
What I’m trying to say is that even though I never got the meet up, I’ve seen how much time and work you put into spawn/the server and i appreciate it and respect you for that and I am sorry to hear that you are leaving.
I wish you the best of luck (and lot’s of fun) in your further MC adventures and i hope our paths may cross in that future.

Ok, I want to get some things off my chest.
First of all i find griefing lame and stupid to, why people do that i dont know either.
But what i want to know chaos, Why do you choose to take real life into the game?
With all respect, Im sorry for your child, but why ingame? What is the point of that. You dont see me making monuments for my passed away grandpa, grandma, or whatever. Why? Perhaps it is your choice ok…But then, why in the spawn area?.
My opinion is, keep real life and gaming apart.
Secont, You talking about immature talking, playing..Whatever.
Ok, i think to its quite easy to get whitelisted whitout even knowing if they are adults or not,
I think there are some non adults in here aswell, but you cant help that. Exept to throw them out if they missbehave or act inapropiate.. The point of a whitelist is to keep at least a few assholes out, most of them dont even take the time to sign up anyway.
And if you talk about imature..Why the hell are you whining about a bat that got killed?
Are you sure some player did it? isnt it just a bug/error? or something else?.
With all those options to teleport away its quite easy yea, but i make handy use of it,
For myself i like the server as it is, im a builder not an real survival player anyway.
But even with the teleport options i die haha.
Im sorry i builded next to your plot, I didnt know, didnt think about your residence.
If i knew i made it somewhere else.
I Find it sad that you are leaving,
By this reaction on your topic i dont mean to be rude or offend you.
The time that i had with you online to i liked.
Sorry for my bad english,

So there’s a mouthful. From day one I have told members that this is their server. If you want to enact changes bring them up and we can decide as a group what to do about them. I may not have a streamlined process setup that showcases a system of rule and policy changes but I do look for these things and make changes when a majority agree.
Apparently I need to make sure we are properly labeled and advertise ourselves correctly.
About the creepers, I don’t know why they are not hurting players. I have been working on fixing this problem and I have not had much luck yet. I am sorry that this is ruining your experience.
For teleportation what bugs you? Is it how many teleports people have or the fact that they exist at all? Should residences not have a teleport, should users not have sethome or should we not have teleports to public buildings? Were not even using warps yet. I personally don’t see the fun in running everywhere but as above this is a members server and members make the choices.
Whitelist, So as I understand it you have three problems with the whitelist. One being how we have users join the group, with the quality of those users and then another being that were not a true whitelist. What do you want to base the whitelist on? Previous bans? We would not have some of the great users we have today. An application that someone approves? A Google of a user? I’ve thought that a $1 refundable charge would be a great way to see if someone is 18+ but then we start to exclude those in different countries. If we are a true whitelist how do potential members know its a live server worth joining or not? The way I see it, anyone who will be a griefer or raider will be able to sneak though just about any application system. The solution I see as working is keep track of who does what and then revert what the griefers do and give them a nice ban to finish off the situation, result: Griefer/hacker gone. The signup process on our website does deter a lot of people that would just cause problems on the server. I would say half of our problems go away just because we ask them to signup.
Every time someone get through our security I have improved it. I keep a very close eye on the server and make sure that we’re not being compromised and that game play is fair. Hackers are becoming a rare occurrence in our world. . . For now at least.
I don’t think anyone reads the rules when they join. I wish they would.
If you don’t like what people say /ignore them. I’ve said this before, I highly recommend it, I will recommend it in the future. Most of those conversations about poop and other nonsense are usually by people who are scouting and they leave in a few minutes anyways.
If you don’t want people using your residence teleport then turn it off /res set tp false. If you still want to teleport to your res then set your permissions to teleport true /res pset yourname tp true.
I have had people mine under my residence as well. It sucks and they are rude. I could find out who did it but there are currently no rules against it. So what do we do about it? Could make a rule that people would never read. I finally realized that there are way more minerals left behind than picked up. So personally I just shrugged it off and kept mining.
About the community interacting. I dont see the problem here. From what I see mailboxes were almost instantly adopted and used by many, members help others, new users are getting help by new members. I am really happy with the community feel up to this point. Every month our members seem to get closer and the group grows. Given we only have a few great community members join each month we are still getting a good core group that gets along very well.
You talk about people criticizing your builds but isn’t that one of the benefits of being on a multiplayer server? Getting feedback and input on your builds? Personally I really like other peoples input and thoughts. Are they proposing a better solution? And when they don’t have a better solution I sit behind my monitor and laugh about the fact I did it easier, faster, and better then they are recommending.
About 1.7 I am still unsure what I am going to do. The only thing I am certain of is that I will not be resetting the world. I have been playing with reseeding sections of the current map, expanding the border, or maybe something else. I really don’t know yet. Everything kind of depends on when does 1.7 come out and how big our community is by then.
I went through the logs last night to find out who would have killed the bat. Interesting result. No one killed your bat, I think he flew out of the area.
So I have gotten a little long and out of control on this post and it has taken a while to write.
Chaos, buddy its been a superb blast playing with you. I really enjoyed how you built up spawn and improved the server for all of the other members. You have truly been a positive and dependable player on our server. You are also a really good caring friend and I hope we can keep in touch through the future. Its a bummer to see you go but I understand all things must change and I wish you the best in your search for a new server.
If any other members have some input on these issues and what they would like to see changed, I would appreciate your comments for future rule or policy modifications.October 6, 2013 at 10:12 am #881Anonymous
